Monte Carlo Polo Federation

The Monte Carlo Polo Federation is a group of skilled modern polo players who come together annually in Monte Carlo with grand ceremony.
Polo is a sport with a rich history, originating from mock battles on horseback played by warring teams in Asia. The game later spread around the world, with the British bringing it to India in 1859 and to Britain in 1869. The sport is now popular globally, with the best polo horses bred in Argentina.
The Monte Carlo Polo Trophy is an event filled with glamour and beauty, with a parade of the modern knights of polo, a catwalk of ladies in hats, and a gala evening.
The event also supports charity and aims to bring joy to sick children. Francesco Mitrano, the president of the Monte Carlo Polo Federation and the captain of the Monte Carlo Polo Club Team, is a prominent figure in the organization.

Founder & president

Founder and President of the Monaco Polo Federation and Monegasque resident, founded the Monte-Carlo Polo Club in 2012; the first club dedicated to the sport in the Principality, to then go on and launch the first edition of the Monte-Carlo Polo Cup; an international tournament. With the approval of the Monegasque authorities, he strengthened Polo’s position within the Monegasque community by creating the “Fédération de Polo de la Principauté de Monaco”. Year-on-year, since the launch of the Monte Carlo Polo Club and Monte Carlo Polo Cup in 2013, (the first and only), this event continues to strengthen. Attracting a host of high profile guests including Ministers, ambassadors and foreign dignitaries, distinguished guests of sponsors, patron, committee and members of the Monte Carlo Polo Club, prominent businessmen /women, socialites and celebrities.
